Burr Formation in Circular Cross Sawing of Western Hemlock
1 Introduction Although it is well known that burr formation occurs on the back surface of work material in circular cross sawing, there are few reports on this research subject. In this work, we conducted circular cross sawing of western hemlock by use of panel saw with tungsten carbide tipped saw. Effects of height of carbide tipped saw on the table of panel saw, fiber orientation on cutting plane, and tooth wear of tungsten carbide tipped saw on burr height were examined. Furthermore the burr height for western hemlock with those for other work materials was also compared.
