Dynamic Measurement of Modulus of Elasticity of Commercial Wood-based Composites using Cantilever Beams

Introduction The modulus of elasticity (MOE) is a fundamental index in quality evaluation of wood and wood-based composites, which is widely used for sorting and grading wood products. Conventional static bending tests for MOE are difficult to rapidly carry out in the quality control process in a mill. Instead, nondestructive evaluation techniques (NDE) have been proved to correlate with standard evaluation methods MOE and strength of wood products. This study was aimed at employing a vibration technique using cantilever beams to measure MOE values of wood-based composites.
