Effect of Compression on the Hydroscopicity of Chinese Fir Heartwood after Eztraction
Introduction The hydroscopicity of wood is closely related to the condition of internal wood surface, chemical composition and the microstructure of wood. It is also associated with the recovery rate for compressed wood. Although a great amount of research has been done on the effect of extraction or compression on the hydroscopicity of wood separately, there is little research on combination of the two methods. This study has been designed to investigate the change of the hydroscopicity of wood resulted from the combined effect of different extraction and compression treatments in different directions.
