Manufacture of Sugi Compressed-dowel by Hot-Eztrusion Processing Method and its Withdraw Strength
Introduction In previous studies, the authors proposed the binder-less connection with only sugi dowel which was compressed in the radial direction such as new type connection. This connection is a method using the power to occur when the sugi compressed-dowel starts absorbing moisture and turns into original shape without using the adhesive. That is, the special boring (enhanced boring) method that the bottom diameter of the pre-boring hole for the compressed-dowel enhanced was developed, and atfer filling water in this pre-boring hole of wood specimen in which this enhanced boring was performed, the sugi compressed-dowel was inserted in it and has been expanded. From the result of pull-out test in the binder-less connection, it became clear that the withdrawal resistance due to the expanding of the sugi compressed-dowel was occurred.
