Microstructure Variation of Small-diameter Populus ussuriensis Lumbers on Different Heating Methods

Introduction Small-diameter lumber resource is in a growing proportion of the worlds forest resource following the substantial reduction of natural forest resource, and its utilization receives much recognition. Small-diameter lumbers quality is poor, it is easy to split and distort especially during the drying process. The study of small-diameter lumbers drying technology has been achieved certain results in domestic and overseas, but there is no reports about the variation law of its microcosmic structure under different heating methods. As small-diameter lumbers structure, it is easy to collapse, resulting serious defects. In order to solve this problem, using the continuous and fluctuant drying method to dry small-diameter Populus ussuriensis lumber, using scanning electron microscope to observe microcosmic defects and studying the variation law. It is intended to explore different drying methods on the quality of small-diameter lumber from the microcosmic view.
