The Quantitative Analysis on the Detected Results by Pilodyn on rotted Wood of Ancient Architecture of Old Wood
Introduction Chinese antiquities are an architecture system, which are mostly composed of timberwork. Column, beam, purlin which are the primary bearing components are made of wood. Its difficult to tear_down timberwork in architecture, so Iossless test technologies such as ultrasonic, stress wave, X-radial, Pilodyn, Resistogrph must be used for reconnaissance and detecting. Replaced partially-rotted timber frame from hall of Military Prowess, the Palace Museum, were collected to test density. Radial and tangential penetration depth were tested by Pilodyn at normal and rotted wood of Larix sp. And Pinus sp. In five levels by eyeballing. The relations between penetration depth and density were analyzed and regression models were established, in order to offer scientific evidence for quantitative analysis on penetration depth by Pilodyn.
