Investigation of Volatile Organic Compounds Emission from Particleboards
Introduction Indoor air quality plays an important role in human life, since people spend more than 80% oftheir time in interior. VOCs emission from furnishings is the main cause for SBS. Most recently, the focus on the emission of VOCs indoor has shift to the wood products. A great deal of attention has been paid to the issue of formaldehyde release of wood products, and regulations are carried out to classil~, the wood products. However, up till now there is no limit values of VOCs concentration emit from wood products had been made up. Some researches found that a large amount of VOCs emit from wood during wood drying and storage. The goal of this study is to evaluate the VOCs emission from particleboard under different hot pressing condition, identify and quantify the VOCs emission after hot-pressing, and study the effect of pressing parameters on TVOC emissions from particleboard.
