The Preliminary Study of Microclimate in the Lower Cost Sugi-wooden House for China

Introduction in order to promote lower cost house with better living environment in China we have just constructed a wooden test house in Shanghai, China. The test house is located at Caoan Rd 3058, Jiading, Shanghai, China. Almost all members of the framework were brought from Japan. The test house was constructed by not traditional Japanese method but based on a unique one called Rahmen structure licensed by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The main flame was built with laminated Sugi lumber of 20cm×20cm in cross section that connected by dowel of deformed bar, which will be replaced by wooden dowel of Quercus gilva in future, it must be easier for builders who are not familiar with Japanese traditional joint to make construction with this method. It is well known in Japan that Sugi wood, Cryptomeria japonica is highly durable, easy to process and dealt with widely in Japan.
