Study on Dye Uptake of Two Rattan Species by Reactive Dyestuff

Introduction Rattan is an excellent material for furniture the same as wood and bamboo. In order to improve the color diversity and stability of rattan production, it is important to research rattan dyeing. In this paper, two rattan species (Calamus siraplicifolius and Daemonorups margaritae) wcre adopted to make monochromic dyeing experiments by using reactive dyestuffs (red X-3B and yellow X-6G). The main factors such as dye concentration, time and temperature that influence dye uptake of split rattan were discussed. Some other kinds of materials, such as wood and bamboo, were used to compare with rattan in dye uptake.
