Synthesis and Characteristics of Abietyl Gemini Surfactan

Introduction A new Gemini surfactant CsH2s-α,ω-bis(3-abietylacyloxyl-2-hydroxypropyl tetra methylethyldiammonium Chlori-de),here s=2, was synthesized. The structure of the target compound was characterized by IR. The influence of the ratio, reaction temperature and time were discussed. The optimal synthetical condition of the title compound was that the ratio of rosin to tetra methylethyldiammonium was 2.2 to 1, the reaction temperature was 85℃ and the reaction time was 20h. The yield was 76.70% and the purity was96.10%.Surface activity of CsH2s-α,ω-bis(3-abietylacyloxyi-2-hydrox -ypropyl tetra methylethyldiammonium Chlori-de),here s=2, was analyzed. The result showed that the emulsifying ability was 16min; the foamability was steady; the critical micelle concentration was 4x10-4mol/1; the surface tension was 38.969mN-m-1. Results of bacteriostatic test showed that the product has obvious bacteriostasis property.
