Synthesis and Release Property of Arabinogalactan-5-fluorouracil
1. Introduction Recently the study of small molecule anticancer drugs chemical bonded on polymer with the property of releasing long-term, targeting characteristics is focus on using polysaccharides as controlled-release carrier. Arabinogalactan was extracted from the larch wood remainder. It is a highly branched structure natural water soluble polysaceharide comprising ofβ(C3→C1) of D-galactopyranose as main chain with the effect of promoting biologic immunocompetence. Tanaka draw a conclusion: arabinogalactan has properties that make it suitable as a carrier for delivering diagnostic or therapeutic agents to hepatocytes via the asialoglycoprotein receptor. And intravenous injection of radiolabeled arabinogalactan (4 mg/kg) in rats resulted in 52.5% of the dose being present in the liver. As inhibiting marrow which could induce hematooietic obstacles and liver and kidney damages, 5-fluorouracil was considered a drug with side effects. In the paper arabinogalactan-5-fluorouracil (AGF) was synthesized and its releasing properties was also studied.
