The Effect of Ball Milling Process on Organosolv Pretreatment of Pitch Pine(Pinus Rigida)

Introduction Due to the high price of gasoline and its shortage, the interest in bioethanol has been increasing. Particularly, advantages of ethanol derived from lignocelluiosic biomass has been highlighted because of several weak points caused by bioenergy crop biomass such as greenhouse gas emission, competing with food problem, etc. Bioethanol production, however, from lignocellulosic biomass is limited because of rigid lignin-carbohydrate complex, so the pretreatment process must be necessary to make enzymatic saccharification efficient for the bioethanol production. This study focused on enhancing enzymatic saccharification, and aimed to find out the effects of orderly ball milling process on organosoiv pretreated Pinus rigida.
