The Structure of Lignin Charcoal

Introduction There have been numerous researches on charcoal and activated charcoal, unfortunately the role of woods main compounds i.e cellulose and iignin, has not yet been fully understood particularly in the evolvement of charcoal crystallite from carbon atoms. Likwise, how the changes in the structures of wood proceed to become charcoal is not yet known either. In fact, wide-range and in-depth understanding about those structural patterns is essential as a basic stand in the manufacture of high quality charcoal and its derivatives for their application and for providing greater benefits. Relevant with such, in the following was briefly discussed research result about lignin pyrolysis at different carbonization temperature. The main aim was to look into the mechanism changes in structure and properties of charcoal from lignin.
