Micro-structural Changes of Bamboo Degradation by Brown-rot Fungus Gloeophyllum trabeum (Pers.ez Fr.) Murr

Introduction Bamboo resources are abundant in china. Besides, the applications of bamboo products increase. Because of the high content of soluble carbohydrates and starch and the trait of easy to be attacked by beetle and fungi, the protection df bamboo has to be the hotspots and difficulties. In this paper, we study 6 years old bamboo which are attacked by the brown-rot Gloeophyllum trabeum (Pers.ex Ft.) Murr.. By researching the transformations of microscopic structure during the decay process, we discuss the approach and mechanism of bamboo decay, which could provide a scientific basis for the harvest, storage, processing and utilization of bamboo.
