Research on Improving the Leaching Resistance of Boron Based Wood Preservatives by Using Three Proteins
1. Introduction Borates are efficient wood preservatives with many advantages such as low cost, colorless, easily availability, flame retardant, and safe for the mammals and environment. But the use of their treated wood in outdoor is limited because of the migration of boron. Borate can not be fixed in wood carboxylate or hydroxyl directly because of the repulsion nature of two anions and two acids can not from a stable salt. Different methods to decrease boron leachability from treated wood have been researched. Some attempts have relied on limiting water penetration of treated wood by using water repellents, monomer and polymer systems.
