A Natural Adhesive from Agricultural By-Product-Study on Rice Bran Adhesive
IntroductionRice bran has mostly been utilized as an animal feed ingredient, fertilizer and fuel. Although it can be a human food ingredient, it must undergo processing that increases its cost compared to food ingredients from other sources. Thus, it is desirable to find alternative applications that increase the value of this important byproduct. The objective of this investigation was to develop a natural adhesive from defatted rice bran by controlling pH and other chemistry. This could increase its economic value and provide environmental friendly products for the wood industry.
