Nutrient Solution Retention and Release by Three Wood Species
Introduction In our research work for making woodchip fertilizer, nutrient solutions are impregnated into the cell lumen of woodchip. In case of softwood species, this permeability is a function of the number of open pits per tracheid which coupled with tracheid length, determines the probability of occurrence of a continuous flow path through the wood specimen being permeated (Meyer, 1970). In this research, we used bigger sample for making wood capsule fertilizer compared to our conventional woodchip size (30 mm×25 mm×5 mm). Nutrient retention and releasing pattern will be also observed in this study.
