Structure Characteristics and Preparation of Carbon Fibers from Liquefied Wood
Introduction Carbon fibers are characterized of light-weight with strong mechanical strength. At present, its development is hindered by many factors including the cost of precursor, yield, processing cost and so on. in some of the studies, cellulose and lignin in wood have been used as the precursors for carbon fibers, but wood utilization is still very low due to the difficult separation of wood components. In recent years, wood liquefaction is one of those techniques converting wood into useful liquid materials. In order to enlarge the utilization field of liquefied wood and obtain the value-added products, carbon fibers from liquefied wood (LWCFs) were prepared successfully in this paper. Furthermore, the structure characteristics and mechanical properties of LWCFs were investigated.
