Property Changes of Pigmented Wood-Fiber-HDPE Composites after Accelerated UV Weathering

Introduction Wood plastic composites (WPC) has gained much acceptance and grown rapidly during the past decade. The aesthetic and low maintenance properties of WPC are the reason to drive the growth in wood replacement applications. With this rapid growth its coloration and durability is a concern. The main objective of the present study was to determine the effects of pigments on change in the optical and mechanical properties of the composites before and after UV accelerated weathering.
