The Utilization and Development of Nanotechnology in Wood
1 Introduction Nanotechnology is defined as the manipulation of materials measuring 100 nanometers or less in at least one dimension. Nanotechnology is expected to be a critical driver of global economic growth and development in this century. Wood is a renewable, stainable and carbon-neutral resource, which has important advantages that match current needs. The use of Nanotechnology in forest industry could transform the forest products industry in virtually all spects-ranging from production of raw materials, to new applications for composite and paper products, to new generations of functional nanoscale celluloses. This paper reviewed wood nano-scale ultrastructure, introduced wood modification by nano-material, wood/inorganic material nanocomposite, analysis and characterization of Nano-scale wood and composite.
