Development of the Wireless Diagnostic System for Motor Operated Valves
To aim maintenance optimization, Japan Atomic Power Company (JAPC) has developed the motor operated valve (MOV)diagnostic analysis system so called MOVDAS using new sensor technologies, build-in torque sensor in the MOV, and introduced it into the nuclear power plants operated by JAPC to carry out CBM. This system, by directly checking the torque behavior of the MOV, can accurately diagnose the condition of the MOV even if the plant is under operation. Recently, for certain data collection and man power saving, the remote diagnostic system based on MOVDAS that effectively uses existing Personal Handy-phone System (PHS) as digital wireless network, has been introduced in the JAPC nuclear plant.
