Review of Investigation on The Water and Air Ingress Accident in HTR

The air ingress accident and water ingress accident axe typical accidents in high temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTR). So it is necessary to investigate beth conditions. This paper contains the present research conditions done by others and planned research work by us on this topic. The previous work mainly includes: react mechanism research, experimental research and computer codes development. Kinetics of the reactions between O2, CO, H2O and graphite materials was researched in detail. The radioactive product release behavior of the fuel under water ingress accident was researched also. The results show that there is no obvious influence on radioactive product release from the coated fuel particles. Nuclear Center of Jülich developed the computer code THERMIX/RFACT for the analysis of air and water ingress accidents with special emphasis on the graphite corrosion process in 1970s. Different experimental equipments were also used to simulate the air and water ingress. The calculation results reach good agreement with the experimental resnlts. The air ingress accident caused by the rupture of hot gas duct vessel is seen as a highly hypothetical accident of HTR-10. The air ingress accident on the HTR-10 was researched systematically. Water ingress accident has still not been understood fully, especially the whole process. Summarizing the previous work, there is still no special research on the fluid flow process of the break of the steam generator to the inlet of the core. So this process will be researched by us. The planned work by us will be introduced in this paper.
