Eztensive Operation Support Functions using Process Computer System for Nuclear Power Plants
Control and Instrumentation in nuclear power plant should have high reliability. Hitachi adopted a highly integrated digital control system in the ABWR (Advanced Boiling Water Reactor)making the HMIS (Human Machine Interface System)more useful and efficient, and expanding the scope of automatic operations during a normal plant start-up/shutdown and after scram. As a result, the operators workload was reduced. In addition, Hitachi has been strengthening support to the operators by the monitoring and diagnostic function and the fast data recall logging function by PCS (Process Computer System). This paper describes the improvement of HIMS and PCS operational Support Functions. 1. Improved HMIS design for enhancing operator performancea. Size unification and reassignment of CRT/FD monitoring and operation functionsb. Unification of rules for hierarchized screen navigation, presentation formats2. Operation support functions for operators by PCSa. Automation plant start-up/shutdown operation functionsb. Monitoring and diagnostic functionsc. Fast data recall logging function.
