Test Result of Engineered Safety Features-Component Control System: Verification of Improved Performance and High Reliability

The Engineered Safety Features-Component Control System (ESF-CCS)controls the safety features of NPP to mitigate the effects of a Design Basis Accident(DBA)or an abnormal operation. A prototype of this system was manufactured and fully tested. The outstanding features of this system are as follows: It has the fully independent triple redundancy modular GCs, the component controlling parts are incorporated in LCs, and it has the reinforced test capability, so its possible to test all main functions automatically and periodically while a nuclear plant is being operated. Component tests for sub-modules in each module, integration tests for each module, and system test for full scope of functions of the ESF-CCS were the three categorical tests that were conducted to verify the performance of the systems functions. The results met the regulatory requirements and specifications. The ESF-CCS will provide utilities with higher reliability and improved performance.
