Risk informed Management for the Outage Optimization Using PSA

1IntroductionConventionally,since before being used the PSA evaluation, the shutdown safety management with the deterministic approach inside the technical specifications has been enforced mitigate its consequences in order to prevent the trouble or mitigate its consequences. In addition, the importance of safety control during plant shutdown has attracted much attention, spurred by many event reports including house those from Diablo Canyon and Vogtle nuclear power plants in the US. Though risk present in midloop operation is unique to PWR plants, fortunately no significant event has occurred at PWRs in Japan so far.Even with such operating result as this, taking into account recent distrust of the public on nuclear safety in Japan, any trouble occurred during plant shutdown should impair public confidence toward nuclear power generation,as well as lead to more restricted regulations. Therefore,it is critical to prevent occurrence of any safety-related events during shutdown period.
