Methods Appraisal of Indez Decomposition and Case Study from China Energy: 1990～2006
Index decomposition analysis of Energy intensity is to research on factors and their contribution to the aggregate energy intensity. Now there are two kinds of index decomposition methodology used most, one is methods linked to Laspeyres index and the other is methods linked to Divisia index. This paper compared the merits and faults of these methods based on background, dimension and explainable results etc. Empirical analysis on energy consumption of GDP and industry value-added in 1990-2006 shows that industrial energy efficiency impacts on aggregate energy intensity is obvious, and the structural change is less.
