Research on development trends of applied statistics in the knowledge economy era
In this paper, we firstly discuss the features of the knowledge economy era. Secondly, based upon these features, we research some development trends of statistics and its application. Although statistics lays stress on the application and practice, it should not ignored to strengthen the research of statistical theory, and statistical theory should and must be more advanced than the application; otherwise, applied statistics will become water without a source, and trees without roots.
