An Analysis of Consum ption Features and Influential Factors in Chinas Book Market

With the deepening of the reform of the publishing system, the book market of China has obtained continuous development. Book species, new published species and sales of books increased year by year. In addition, the total consumption of books maintains the good growth momentum. However, compared with those developed countries, the average consumption level is rather low. Book consumption in China is mainly concentrated in textbooks of primary and secondary school as well as cultural, educational books, and the consumption structure is irrational. As a result, serious problems such as structural surplus and excess inventory have arisen. Through data analysis, the paper comes to the conclusion that income, price, digital publication and topic choosing are the main factors that influence book consumption in China.
