An Analysis of Determinants of Location Choice of Foreign Direct Investment-- Application of Poisson Regression Model
The analysis of the numeric relationship between the location choice of foreign direct investment and contributing factors has been made in this article by setting up Poisson regression model, with the number of foreign enterprises of different provinces of China as dependent variable. and the following elements in these cities as explanatory variables. They are the number of industrial enterprises, with or without open cities, the proportion of tertiary industry, efficiency wage, GDP per capita, degree of marketization, the proportion of import and export in districts. The analysis indicates that the level of finance, information and transportation industries, the concentration of industry, with or without open cities, the opening degree, marketization degree and some other factors are positively correlated with the location choice of foreign direct investment. So when we attract direct investment of foreign enterprises, we should pay more attention to the construction of import and export industries, the development of tertiary industry, make influence on the location choice of foreign direct investment by using information cost and agglomeration economy. At the same time, we should be fully aware of regional features and make policies to attract foreign direct investment accordingly.
