The Impact of Income Gap upon the Consumption of the Urban Residents in Shandong province

Since the reform and opening up, urban populations disposable income was the growing trend in China, particularly since the 1990s, the growth rate has been greatly accelerated, but the gap between rich and poor urban residents is increasing year by year, which not only had a direct impact on the average consumption and the consumption structure, but also triggered a lot of social problems. This paper analyzes mainly effect on Consumption demand caused by income gap between urban residents, makes a quantitative analysis and then puts forward a proposal that the government needs to narrow the income gap and increase consumption.
