A Study of Hedonic Price Indezes for Chinese Notebook PC
When compiling the price index for high-tech products, we should not ignore the quality changes. Otherwise Quality Change Bias will occur. The paper compiles two different quality-adjusted price indexes for Chinese notebook PC based on hedonic model. One is hedonic time dummy price index and the other is hedonic imputation price index. Compared with the index compiled without any quality adjustment technique, the quality-adjusted price indexes show different trends. It shows quality adjustment should be considered when compiling the price index for high-tech products.
