A Research on the Karez in Turpan Basin Based on Statistical Analyses and Sustainable Development
This paper analyzed the current existing condition of Karez located at Turpan Basin of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. Explanation of paper contents are based on the yearly statistic investigation carried on in a long time. The statistic information is provided to express severe reality of existing karezes influenced by human population and their agricultural activities and current environment as well; the karez numbers of available and unavailable in water supply are respectively given and analyzed. Statistics methods to manage the water discharge and water yield are introduced by considering the karez numbers of being with water and dried up. The factors that indicate the degree of average water usage and water yield are considered for practical application. The strategy for protecting the existing karezes and recovering the dried karezes is suggested. It is expected that this research results may be applied for next statistic activity of karezes.
