Product Classification by Means of Input
Approaches to product classification, different from the usual way of classifying a product byits function or its value of use, are studied here by the ratio of its material flow in production input. Under this classification scheme, the condition of exchange between two production processes and the condition of cost additive to different products are proved, and the main results are concluded as follows: (1) two production processes can be exchanged through finite single production processes if and only if they are the same kind of products under product classification; (2) the production costs of two products are additive if and only if these two are similar products under product classification. Furthermore, numerical examples are used to illustrate the conclusions.
