ANALYSIS OF CHAR SPECIFIC SURFACE AREA AND POROSITY DURING THE FAST PYROLYSIS OF PULVERIZED COAL AND BIOMASS
IntroductionThe specific surface area of solid fuel and its char have a notable effect on the reaction process of solid fuel combustion, which includes volatiles yields, reactants entering into the pore and adsorbing to the solid surface, reaction products desorption from the solid surface and diffusion to the space etc. So the specific surface area and pore structure of char have the significance on the production and reduction of Nox1,2,3. In order to understand the Nox production and reduction mechanism during combustion process of coal and biomass fuels, it is necessary to study char specific surface area and pore structure of the char. In this paper, we use the concept of fractal theory combined with the measurement of specific surface area and pore structure to make the evaluation of char surface structure. For preparing for char samples, a constant temperature DTF was employed and the operation conditions were kept constant and similar to the actual boiler furnace. The solid fuel samples included pulverized coal, straw, cornstalk and wood dust, devolatihzed at the constant temperature as 900K, 1000K and 1100K during the process of flash pyrolysis.
