THE INFLUENCE OF GASIFICATION TEMPERATURE ON THE VOLATILITY OF HEAVY ELEMENTS

IntroductionDuring coal combustion and gasification, heavy elements would volatile and enter into different combustion/ gasification products by complicated physical and chemical process. The distribution of heavy elements has relations with many influence facts such as the state of heavy element in coal, the physical and chemical character of heavy element, the condition of combustion and gasification, the type of mineral in coal and so on, especially operation temperature. Most of scholars considered that the increase of furnace temperature was in favor of the volatility of heavy elements1-2. We also draw the conclusion that the relative enrichment facts of Cr, Zn were increased with the increase of furnace temperature3. But Leo et al considered that the incinerator temperature did not influence the distribution of Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb in the products4. Wang et al also considered the volatility speeds of As, Pb, Cr were not in direct proportion to gasification temperature5. More scholars draw the conclusion about the effect of temperature on the volatility of heavy elements through thermodynamic equilibrium calculation6-7. But dynamics is not taken into account in the thermodynamic equilibrium, and all of compounds of heavy elements are not assumed in the calculation. Many researches about the heavy elements have been reported, but much more gave emphasis to coal combustion, few about coal gasification.
