INFLUENCES OF MINERALS TRANSFORMATION ON THE REACTIVITY OF HIGH TEMPERATURE CHAR GASIFICATION

IntroductionWith the development of entrained-flow gasifier in coal conversion field, high temperature coal gasification turns more and more important because the operating temperature is above 1300 ℃ for entrained-flow gasification, which is over ash melting temperature. Some researchers specified that the melting minerals obstructed coal gasification at high temperature 1. However, the detailed research on minerals transformation at high temperature is required to explain the influences of minerals transformation on the reactivity of high temperature coal gasification. High temperature gasification of two Chinese coals with CO2 was investigated in a bench scale fixed-bed reactor and mineral transformation experiments were also performed from 1100 to 1500 ℃. It was found that the gasification behaviors above ash melting temperature were different for different mineral composition, especially the content of iron oxide.
