EFFECT OF PYROLYSIS HEATING RATE ON THE CO2 GASIFICATION REACTIVITY OF COAL AND SLUDGE-OIL-COALMIXTURE

IntroductionBecause sludge is produced in large quantity in many countries and the content of carbon in the sludge is around 50% 1, sludge may be a new source for gasification process. The water content should be less than 60% to use sludge again 2. A new sludge treament without drying and filteration was to produce the modified sludge fuel, the combination agglomerate of sludge-oil-coal (SOCA). The development of systems for the conversion of coal-sludge blends to energy by thermochemical process requires a fundamental unstanding of thermal propertities and reaction kinetics. The first chemical change in coal utilizartion process is pyrolysis which may be accompanied by drastic changes in the textural and molecular structure of the coal fuel and which has a significant influence on subsequent stage. Initial devolatilisation characteristics of the fuels have been characterised by co-pyrolysis experiments.
