ATOMIZATION CHARACTERISTICS OF COALWATER MIXTURE USING JET ATOMIZER

IntroductionCoal gasification is a new generation technology using coal universally present energy source -that has come into limelight for its environment-friendliness and better efficiency than conventional generation system. Coal gasification technology consists of coal gasifier, gas purifier, waste heat recovery device, synthetic gas-using generation system and fluid fuel-composing fluidization system. Fixed-bed type, fluidized-bed type, entrained flow type and molten bed type coal gasifiers are being considered now in different countries. Among several variants of gasifiers, coal slurry fluidized bed gasifers performance varies significantly, depending on properties of CWM used as fuel, degree of atomization and operating conditions, etc. CWM, as several coal particles are mixed with water, resulting in droplets far larger than coal particles to be gasified, atomization performance of burner directly related to droplet size is known to play a critical role in improving gasification performance and maintaining operational stability.
