NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF SAWDUST GASIFICATION IN AN AIR CYCLONE GASIFIER
1 IntroductionBiomass has received increasing attention in the past decades as interesting renewable energy source. A lot of research of biomass gasification has been done in experiment. At present, the gasifier should be designed and operated more scientific, and then more knowledge of biomass reactively was required. Different types of biomass have very different physical and chemical characteristics. The fuel properties and process conditions, such as fuel type, particle size, air flow rate and fuel moisture, affect the combustion of characteristics, altering the heat generation, heat transfer and reaction rates in a complicated manner 1. Though, it is very difficult to develop a suitable numerical model to describe the reactions of biomass gasification, some researchers have done a lot of studies on that. Zhou H has developed a one-dimensional unsteady heterogeneous mathematical model for straw combustion in a fixed bed 2. The reactions in reduction zone of downdraft biomass gasifier have been modeled by B.V.Babu3. This paper proposed a model of gasification reactions for a novel cyclone gasifier in order to predict the accurate distribution of various axial gas species and the profiles of the temperature in the gasifier. Model predictions have been validated by comparing the experimental data.
