EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE ON THE REACTION OF H2S WITH A COKE
IntroductionIn China, coal counts more than 95% of primary energy resources. It determines that the coal-based energy consumption structure is difficult to change in a long term. With the development of science and technology, efficient and clean coal conversion approach is needed urgently and pyrolysis of coal will be an important method.Pyrolysis of coal occurs in most of coal conversion processes (combustion, gasification, liquefaction, carbonization etc) and is itself a coal utilization technique Coal contains various types of sulfur. These sulfur compounds transform during pyrolysis and the sulfur re distribute in pyrolysis products, solid char or coke, liquid tar and gas. When coal is pyrolized, more than 45% of sulfur in coal may retain in coke 1, which reduces the coke quality and usability. Reducing sulfur content of coke, therefore, is of importance. The reaction between coke components and gaseous sulfur compounds (which are released primarily from the raw coal) is one of the sources for the sulfur in solid phase. Inhibition of the gaseous sulfur compounds from reacting with coke components will be an important step for reduction of sulfur content in coke.
