CO PREFERENTIAL OXIDATION IN HYDROGEN STREAM OVER Au/CeO2+ Au/Co3O4 AND Au/CeO2-Co3O4 CATALYSTS FOR FU EL CELL APPLICATION
IntroductionPolymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) as a potential power source of electric vehicles have attracted much attention due to their low operation temperature, excellent energy efficiency and zero-emission of air pollutants 1. Pure hydrogen is the ideal fuel for PEMFC; however, hydrogen feed for PEMFC is usually produced by steam reforming of liquid fuel followed by water gas shift due to the difficulty in the distribution and storage of hydrogen 2 . Hydrogen produced in this way contains inevitably a small amount of CO, which can poison the platinum electrodes of the fuel cell at the low temperature. Therefore, trace CO has to be removed from the reformate H2-rich stream.
