CATALYTIC DRY OXIDATION OF ANILINE AND BENZENE ADSORBED ON A CuO DOPED ACTIVATED CARBON
IntroductionAdsorption-catalytic dry oxidation (ACDO), which integrates aqueous phase adsorption with catalytic dry oxidation at low temperatures, has been reported to be promising for low concentrated toxic and/or biorefractory organic wastewater treatment 1-3. Mitamov1 investigated feasibility in ACDO of phenol and halogenated phenol on AC impregnated with different metal oxides. Zhao 2 studied ACDO behavior of phenol on Cu/AC in cycles. Lei reported 3 ACDO behavior of phenol on Cu-Ce/AC in cycles and effect of residues from oxidation of phenol. They found some sorbent-catalysts, such as Cu/AC and Cu-Ce/AC, have showed stable adsorption capacity and higher catalytic oxidizing activity, and the mechanisms of adsorption and oxidation have been discussed. The organic pollutants studied in the previous works are only phenol and halogenated phenol, and other organic pollutants have not been reported yet. Due to the complexity of various organic compounds in toxic and/or biorefractory wastewater, it is urgent to investigate whether ACDO is a wide and effective method in wastewater treatment or not.
