CHARACTERISTICS OF DRY POTASSIUM-BASED SORBENTS FOR CO2 CAPTURE

IntroductionGlobal warming is emerging as the important environmental issue of the 21st century. If the greenhouse gas emission is uncontrolled continuously, from 1990 to 2100, the average global temperature will increase by 1.4 to 5.8℃1, since fossil fuel-fired power plants are the large stationary sources for CO2 emissions 2, CO2 capture from these stationary sources is of critical importance. The various CO2 capture options include precombustion decar-bonization 3, O2 combustion with CO2 recycle 4, chemical looping combustion 5, and post-combustion capture 6. However, the process which is inexpensive, low energy demand, and high activity with CO2, is even under development.
