CNTS(CARBON NANOTUBES) SYNTHESIS IN AN AGITATION FLUIDIZED BED

IntroductionNano-scale deposition of iron on substrate plays an important role in modern technologies such as semiconductor gas sensor 1, magnetic properties 2 and catalyst preparation. Many methods have been employed to prepare iron in a nano particle form. Among these approaches, metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) is powerful tools for depositing iron thin films from a metal organic precursor. More recently, a novel fluidized bed metal organic chemical vapor deposition (FB-MOCVD) was researched and developed for preparing nano particles by several researchers. In the fluidized bed chemical vapor deposition (FBCVD) process at high temperatures, the system rapidly reaches equilibrium due to the high mass and heat transfer rates characterized by the fluidized bed reactor. In this process, each substrate is coated with a nano particle of a new material, thus changing the properties of materials. FB-CVD is a useful method in catalyst preparation for the improvement of physicochemical properties such as catalytic activity, hardness, and mechanical stability since it deposits nano size particles of the catalytic compound possibly on selective sites of the substrate. This process can uniformly coat metal or metal oxide on small, three-dimensional objects such as powders, beads, fiber, and small pieces of equipments, which is not possible in conventional chemical vapor deposition, because entire surface area is not come out to the activated gas.
