The Development Status of Green Tea Industry in China
As the hometown of tea China is rich in tea kinds and produces all the six kinds of tea, including green tea, black tea, yellow tea, Oolong tea, white tea, and dark tea. With the longest history, the broadest area, the most abundant varieties, the highest production and the widest consumption regions, green tea is the largest kind of tea in China. In 2007, the total area of tea plantations in China was 1.53 million hm2, the total production reached 1.14 million t, and the total production value of raw tea reached 30 billion Chinese Yuan. The plantation area and production volume of green tea accounted for about three-quarters of the national total.
