Evaluation of Common Buckwheat Genetic Resources in Czech Gene Bank
Genetic diversity of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture(PGRFA)is unique and irreplaceable source for further genetic improvements of crops. One of types of PGRFA ex situ conservation is under regulated conditions in Gene Banks. Before storage in Gene Bank iS the most important evaluation of pGRFA in field trials. This paper describes field evaluation of buckwheat genetic resources under conditions in the Czech Republic according toDescriptors for buckwheat(IPGRI, 1994). In general, most of genotypes had reddish-green stem(84%), cordate leaf blade shape(82%), white flowers(87%), grey and ovate achenes(48%, 57%respectively). The vegetative period rangedfrom 104 to 131 days.WTS varied from 18.6 to 33.22 g.
