A Proposed Model Dwarf Buckwheat Plant K-chibi
In this manuscript we report on the development of an extreme dwarf plant, K-chibi, and recommend it as a model buckwheat plant. From the results of the present study, it is suggested that K-chibi might be a BL-deficient mutant. Isogenic normal lines of i 105 are being developed for the purpose of studies on the dwarf character. We have started to develop near isogenic lines in the F8 population,. Therefore this will allow for comparison studies on the dwarf characteristic as the NILswill have normal plant height, and the same genetic background except for the dwarfism.
