Contract Cultivation in China
In China the plan for afforestation has been aggressively progressed since entered into twenty first century, and lots of fields not well cultivated have been actively planted. Following to this trend, China has been promoting the prevalence of contract cultivation since around 2003. In the area being difficult to cultivate, buckwheat used to be cultivated mostly in these areas, proceeding the plan will mean plant fields without concrete cultivation plan simply into forest or pasture. If such field reforms will be proceeded wildly and extensively, you must have a strong concern that the growing area of buckwheat will be further and drastically reduced. When considered the fact that Japan has been relying 80% of its buckwheat domestic consumption on the import from China, I got carried away with an idea of necessity to investigate how the contract cultivation plan has been proceeding there in China.
