Synthesis and ionic conductivity of Mg-doped Li2TIO3

Li2-2xMg2xTiO3+x(0 ≤ 2x ≤ 0.1) powder was synthesized by solid-state reaction. Phase analysis, microstructures and density of the ceramics were determined by XRD, SEM and Archimedes method. Impedance spectroscopy was measured to evaluate the electrical conduction properties of the ceramics. The experimental results showed that Mg entered into the lattice of Li2TiO3. Mg doping was beneficial to the improvement of the sintered density and grain growth of the Li2TiO3 pellets and resulted in the formation of vacancies, which were favorable to the improvement of ionic conductivity of the system. The lithium ion conductivity for Li1.9 Mg0.1 TiO3.05 reached as high as 1.07×10-3 Scm-1 at 600℃.
