1 Project BriefThe Xixiayuan Counter Reservoir is located on the mainstream of the Yellow River in HenanProvince, 16km downstream of Xiaolangdi Multipurpose Dam Project, with a total catchmentarea of 694,600km2 above the dam site. This is a large-sized multipurpose dam project mainlyfor counter regulation, but also for power generation, water supply and irrigation, with a totalstorage capacity of 162 million m3, a maximum height of 20.2m in the sand-gravel section and51.5m in the concrete section, a total installed capacity of 140MW, and an irrigation area of1.138 million mu.
